Voice call Traffic Flow

Voice call Traffic Flow

1. From mobile station to base station over 2G frequency 900/1800 Mhz.

2. Signal received by antenna as electromagnetic wave

3. Modulated signal should be amplified. Amplification achieved by RRU.

4. Signal demodulation and digital conversion will also be done.

5. Signal sent to BBU to be digitally processed.

6. Signal will sent to microwave link as PDH E1 Channels.

7. Microwave links support TDM , Ethernet and hybrid Traffic.

8. Microwave works between 6-80 Ghz Or incase of IPification, we can migrate the 2G over IP.

9. A case where Ericsson CU or SIU cards are used, the signal is then sent to a router.

10. Then we can transport the signal to the BSC through router with fiber.

11. We can integrate the whole site technologies ( 5G4G3G2G) over fiber from BS to core network.

12. From BS toward BSC. RNC toward Core Network.

13. In core network VLR , MSC should identify the traffic route and call detailed information.

There are 4 main parts;

💠 RAN

💠 Transmission

💠 IP Network

💠 Core

--------------

BBU - Base Band Unit

RRU - Remote radio unit

IP - Internet Protocol

PDH - Plesiochronous digital hierarchy

E1 Channels - Digital transmission channels that are used to carry voice calls and data

TDM - Time-division multiplexing

CU - Connection unit

SIU - Site Integration Processing Unit

BSC - Base station controller

RNC - Radio Network Controller

VLR - Visitor Location Register

MSC - Mobile Switching Center
